Things People Do

Many people enjoy doing puzzles...sudokos, IQ questions etc...What is it that makes ppl spent hours on it? Is it a need to convince themselves that they are smart, hoping they can solve something which others couldn't, making them smarter than others?

People often says they look for intelligence and not appearance. Do they really do? Or are they just showing others, or in many cases, trying to convince themselves that they are not shallow?

When people donate money to charity or beggars, is the key motivation to help the other person? Or to convince themselves that they are a good person? So from another perspective, charities and beggars are providing a service to make people feel good.

Learn from the Best?

As the saying goes, if you want to learn, learn from the best. But maybe that isn't such a great idea. Different people have different style in their thinking process. The "best", normally having a innate talent, naturally have a more unique thinking process. While most people have to thinking from A to B to C, the "best" often jumps right from A to C. Maybe it's not that they ignore B, but rather its something that is so natural to them that its in their subconcious, with no need to go through that process conscientiously. So when the "normal" starts learning from the "best", there is no way they can understand how A leads to B. They will just end up confused and maybe demoralised. Not only that, the "best" will find that he have a trouble teaching the "normal" since he felt that its natural that A will lead to C, and may be fustrated why the rest just couldn't get the idea. Of course, if you too, have a natural talent, have the same thinking process as the "best", can jump from A to C, go ahead and learn from the "best".

Instead, maybe a better idea would be to learn from someone who is better, but not too far off in standard, someone who also thinks from A to B to C. And after you have become better, progressively seeks out someone higher up the level to learn from. That might work better for most of the people.
